Boy's Star Wars Themed Room

Image
It's the first day of Spring!! I'm so excited!!!  I'm ready for flowers, outdoor play and all the fun things that go along with warmer weather. Right now we're stuck indoors. S.R. has the flu. Hopefully she's on the mend. It's been a rough couple of days.  If you follow along on Facebook, you know that I have finally started piecing her  quilt  together. It's coming along very nicely. I have just a few more rows to finish, and then I wait for the rest of the fabric to come in the mail. I have been doing some spring cleaning as well. It's amazing what you get accomplished when you are forced to slow down:o)  I realized that there are a few rooms in the house that I have made changes to, but never shared them with you guys. E's room got a mini makeover a few months ago. You can see before pictures  here . The position of the bed and the bedding were the main things we changed. We switched it to a Star Wars theme...The bedding is from Target. The Death ...

Some New Sewing Projects for Boys

Image
Sewing for a little girl is so easy. There are so many cute inspirations out there for girls, but there really isn't a whole lot to choose from for little boys. Sometimes I feel guilty when I make something for S.R. because for every 3-4 things I make for her, I make 1 for E. Sad, I know. It's a fine line when sewing for boys because some things out there are border-line ridiculous. You have to take great care in not making your boy look like a girl.  So anywhoodles, I went to Heart and Home Fabrics  on Etsy, and  let E pick out some really cute fabric from the "Children at Play" line by Sara Jane.  I made this cute little bean bag ottoman from it. If I ever get around to it, I will do a tutorial because S.R. wants one as well:)  I also made him a cute little vest out of the same fabric. Yes, it coordinates with his ottoman, but how often is he going to be wearing that vest while sitting on the ottoman? ;o) I'll have a tutorial on how to make a vest very so...

More Rearranging

Image
Here's a question for you....what do you guys think about an  ottoman coffee table ? I am thinking that the ottomans upstairs are going to have to be replaced soon b/c someone's hubby keeps sitting his behind on ours and has squished it to bits while playing XBOX....I need something soft b/c the kids are usually jumping on the couch up there. Anyway, I told you guys yesterday that I went on a rearranging spree. I have had some issues with S.R.'s room. It was starting to feel a little  lot cramped. I did some fanagling, and this is what happened. Her room is so much more spacious now. I moved her  dollhouse bookshelf  into the closet. The closet door had to be removed b/c the kids kept leaning on it, and it came loose from the frame. I think I am going to leave it like this and maybe hang some curtains from the inside?? Sounds kinda fun to me;o) Since S.R. doesn't have a dresser, we have to get creative with storage. Some of her clothes are in the baskets on the shelf...

Yard Sale Finds and New "Artwork" for E's Room

Image
I hope that you all had a fab Easter weekend. We surely did. It was a gaw-jus weekend, except for the massive thunderstorm that interrupted my yard sale Saturday:o) I did catch a few finds before the bottom completely fell out. That enormous mirror was found on Friday for $1. I am in the process of transforming that Beaut. I was very excited about all the space pics. I'll share the "after" of those in a minute.  Got this sweet little mirror for $1. The silver platter was $2. This box of zippers was $5. I was particularly happy about this find. I never have zippers, and now I won't have to buy any for the next 2 decades:o)  These Japanese lanterns I got for $8. Not sure if I will use them, but if I don't I can always sell them on ebay:o) So, back to the space pics. They came in wooden frames, and they were all different shades of ugly, so to unify them, I spray painted all the frames black. I got 5 pics for $5 and I had the hubs pick the 3 that he thought would loo...

E's Space Themed Room

Image
The moment you have all been waiting for...the unveiling of E's bedroom. I apologize for the agony you endured over these past few day waiting to see this room...;o) Juuuust Kidding:o) I am very excited to share this room with you. E is completely beside himself; he's so pumped about!  Now this room, as you can tell was inspired by Pottery Barn Kids' Celestial bedroom. It's not completely the same, but there are a few similarities. I'll start with one of the two most difficult projects, the fabric mural over the bed. This puppy took around 6 hours of knee and elbow pain to complete. We have hard wood floors, and I was on my elbows and knees drawing this out on the fabric. I had my lap top next to me, with the pic of PBK's version($99) on the screen, and with a white paint pen, drew everything out. I had some painters plastic underneath the fabric b/c it did bleed thru. I used 2 yards of navy fabric. It was $1.99/yd. at Hobby Lobby. All I had to do to get it read...

Teaser for E's Room

Image
I told you that I would show some teasers today, so here ya go...can you guess what this one is?  And can you guess what I did to this? Let me just say there is a lot of BLUE in his room and he LOVES it!! He tells me every day "Thank you Mommy." Makes my heart melt:o) I hope to be done with his room for the most part before the weekend is out. There are a few things that can't possibly be done. But it's coming together and it is SA-WEET! Hope that you all have a fab weekend and I will see you back here on Monday!

Boy's Beach Themed Room

Image
I know that I have been all about some girly stuff here lately, but I do remember that I have a little boy. For all you mom's who need a little inspiration in all things boy, here ya go...This was my son's room in our last house, Over-The-Top Beach Theme...I haven't started on his room in the new house yet, but the wheels have definitely been turning. As soon as S.R.'s birthday party is over, E. is gonna get some love;o) Here are a few pics of his old room..when his mother actually paid him some mind...   The mural was painted by a lady that attended church with us...isn't she "Tha Bomb"??? My mother actually visited a model home and they had this same mural displayed in one of the children's bedrooms. "Tha Bomb" was able to use the picture that my mother gave me and copy it backwards to make the Woody face the right direction in E's room. I'm tellin' ya, she's awesome!     I painted the wave, and I'm not nearly as talente...
